WHO CAN BE NOMINTED?

Individuals, bands, groups or volunteers who contribute to Southland's music community.

WHO CAN MAKE A NOMINATION?

Anyone. Fellow musicians, industry peers, organisers, audience members, supporters or members of the public.

CAN I NOMINATE MYSELF?

Yes. Self-nominations are welcome.

WHAT MAKES A STRONG NOMINATION?

A strong nomination explains what the nominee has achieved, why their contribution matters, how it relates to the category and how active they are. Specific examples are helpful.

CAN SOMEONE BE NOMINATED IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY?

Yes. If a nominee fits multiple categories, they can be nominated for more than one award.

WHAT TIME PERIOD SHOULD NOMINATIONS COVER?

Focus primarily on achievements during the eligibility period, while including any background that helps explain the nominee's impact.

WHO ARE THE JUDGES?

Nominations are assessed by an independent panel with music industry experience and knowledge.

DO ALL NOMINEES BECOME FINALISTS?

No. Nominations are reviewed against the award criteria and a shortlist of finalists is selected for each category.

CAN SOMEONE BE NOMINATED IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY

Yes. If a nominee is eligible for multiple categories, they may be nominated for more than one award.

Please note: Only one category can be selected per nomination form. If you would like to nominate the same person, band, or organisation in multiple categories, please submit a separate nomination form for each category.
